North Sports: Palm Beach Gardens Predators White U10 girls travel soccer team …

The Palm Beach Gardens Predators White U10 girls travel soccer team won the 5th Annual Wellington Soccer Shootout Tournament gold division championship. The competition was held Jan. 7-8 at Village Park. The Predators went 4-0 during the competition and defeated the Boynton Beach Knights in the championship game. U10 White was one of seven Predators teams that competed in the tournament. The U10 Blue girls placed second in their division, while the U12 boys were third. Other teams included the U12 girls, U11 boys, U8 boys and U9 girls.

The 75th Annual Silver Sailfish Derby, which ran Jan. 5-7, ended it’s three-day run with 1,174 sailfish releases.

  • Tony Greaton of Tequesta, fishing from Native Son, took third in the Top Angler category with 20 releases and was the Top Daily Angler on day three with five releases.
  • Team Murray, out of West Palm Beach and captained by Rob Murray, won the Top Tag Team category with 19 tagged sailfish.
  • Princess Lily, out of Palm Beach Gardens and captained by Mike Hunter, won the Top Daily Boat category on day three with eight releases.
  • Chad Fair and Nadia Bohlman, both of Boca Raton and fishing from the Cha Ching, won in the Top Daily Eligible Weight Fish category. Fair landed a Cobia weighing 24.8 pounds for the heaviest fish on day two and Bohlman landed a 25.6 pound Cobia for the heaviest fish on day three.

Individual game Spring Training tickets for the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals will go on sale for the first time during Fun Fest at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday . The festival runs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free hot dog and soda. Connor Webb, a 15-year-old Dwyer High School student, made a hole-in-one at The Preserve Golf Course in Vancleave, Miss. on Jan. 7. Webb, on vacation in Miss. with his family, hit the shot on the 133-yard 2nd hole using a nine iron.

Jeff Tipping Performance will oversee Palm Beach Soccer Academy’s new Scholar Program beginning Sept. 1. Tipping will serve the club in an advisory capacity until then.

FC Florida Soccer Club is hosting a developmental soccer league for ages 5-10 on Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. at Dyer Park, 7301 Haverhill Road, West Palm Beach and Digital Domain Studio Fields, 10250 S.W. Sixth Annual West Palm Beach Yoga Day is scheduled for Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Meyer Amphitheatre in downtown West Palm Beach. Certified yoga teachers will instruct classes during the free event, and beginners are welcome. For more information, call (561) 281-5895.

Palm Beach Gardens will be offering several new programs:

  • ‘Sundays in the Gardens’ are social coed sports activities for ages 18 and up including basketball, softball, flag football, soccer and volleyball. The fees for each sport vary from $200-$375.
