Virginia ‘GeGe’ Crites

Virginia Lee Crites of Ardmore, age 91, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012, after a brief illness. A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Rev. Roger Wood officiating.

Virginia was born Aug. 13, 1920, in Flora, Ill. to Guy Worthington Keith and Malone Rebecca Valbert Keith. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Coy, and brothers Louis Keith and Loren Keith.

Virginia married Coy L. Crites on Aug. 13, 1941, in St. Louis. After Coy returned from Europe in World War II and resumed his job with Gulf Oil Corp., the family moved from Illinois to Seminole and Alva before settling in Ardmore in 1962.

Virginia was a homemaker until the early 1970’s when she went to work at the Carter County Election Board. Upon retirement, she and Coy spent every winter for 20 years at their home in Key Largo, Fla. Also during this time she worked part time as the receptionist at Shannon Crites School of Dance. Virginia was adored and was loved by many people of all ages. She was friends with everyone.

Gege loved bingo, bridge, dancing, fishing, island life and OU football. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by three children, daughter Vicki Ritchey of Sante Fe, N.M., daughter Cindy McCulloh of Ardmore; son Keith Crites and his wife Shannon of Ardmore; grandchildren Haley Ritchey of Sante Fe, N.M., Regan Gray of Ardmore, Megan Ownby and husband Scott of Ardmore, Ryan McCulloh of Tulsa, Ross McCulloh of Guthrie, Whitney Crites Brown and husband Brian of Norman, and Cody Crites of Ft. Worth, Texas.

She is also survived by great grandchildren Anna Kate Ownby, Courtney Brookover, Mack Gray, Angelinia McCulloh, and soon to arrive Samantha Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ardmore Village Lodge 1310 Knox Road, Ardmore, OK 73401. Online condolences may be made at www.craddockfuneralhome.com.
