This week’s broadcast of the Chevy Florida Insider Fishing Report will focus on lobster. The species of lobster harvested in Florida is the spiny lobster.
This a timely species feature at the upcoming annual mini lobster season begins Wednesday, July 24 at 12:01 a.m. and runs through Thursday, July 25. The mini lobster season is always the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday in July. The regular eight month long lobster season begins on August 6 and runs through March 31.
The show will offer information on lobster as well as tips and techniques for harvesting them. The show will also discuss regulations for the harvest of lobster. The show also features fishing reports from nine regional areas of the state. The regional reports are given by regular professional fishing guides who are featured each week. They cover both the Gulf Coast from the Panhandle to the Keys around to the Atlantic Coast and up to Jacksonville.
Each week the show highlights a particular feature or game fish each week and also showcases new tackle, techniques, and other outdoors related products throughout the show.
The show airs this Thursday at 7:00 pm and again at 10:oo pm on Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida. That’s channel 31 if you have Brighthouse Networks in Polk County. If you miss Thursday’s broadcasts, the show repeats again on Frida at 6:30 am and 11:30 am and again on Saturday at 9:30am.
